Discover Karumba...
Ash’s Holiday Units is ideally located at Karumba Point – where the Outback really does meet the sea with Savannah grasslands, scrub/marine plains and mangroves coming together – walk across the road to the Gulf coastline where you can enjoy fabulous sunsets and marine vista’s and the Sunset Tavern – or a short walk to the Norman River mouth as it meets the Gulf waters and Karumba Point boat ramp. Ash’s can be your home away from home while you explore, relax and enjoy – fishing, bird-watching, walking and exploring, croc spotting, photography, and just getting away from it all. Karumba is surrounded by bird, animal and marine life and the Les Wilson Barramundi Discovery Centre along with local river tour guide operators, are all set to help you make the most of it.
Ash’s can offer transfers to and from Normanton with prior arrangement along with short driven local tours of the town and area to get the local flavour.
Experiences and opportunities abound with the unique 1 tide per day marine environment, the Gulf being home to the morning glory cloud phenomenon (usually August through November) – then there is the first nations/indigenous culture and heritage along with settlement like the Gold Rush years, cattle/pastoral industry and explorers like Burke & Wills – you have a great backdrop for your adventure in the Gulf of Carpentaria. Find out all about our story at the Les Wilson Barramundi Discovery Centre and Visitor Information Centre.
